Five time MLS runner-ups, New England Revolution are still seeking their inaugural championship in the most prestigious North American soccer league.
The Revs got close in the middle of the first decade of the century, when they finished second three times in a row, but the best season ever since has arrived in 2021. A team from Massachusetts finished first in the Eastern conference and won the Supporters’ Shield, but fell in the quarter finals to the eventual winners from New York City.
This year the Revs are doing fine in the 2024 CONCACAF Champions Cup, as they managed to enter the top-8 to face Club América, but New England is still winless in MLS, allowing eight goals in just three matches.
Cincinnati
FC Cincinnati, one of the youngest franchises in the league, has initially struggled, as they finished near the bottom during their first three seasons. Last season, however, the Orange and Blue won Supporters’ Shield before losing in extra time in the semifinals to the eventual MLS Cup winners, Columbus Crew.
This season, as Cincy lost to Monterrey in the CONCACAF Champions Cup, they can focus on finishing the job in MLS. Undefeated through three games, Cincinnati got to five points, allowing only one goal, as fixing the attack will go the long way.
