In the first leg of the 2024 CONCACAF Champions Cup quarter-final, Inter Miami will host Monterrey in Fort Lauderdale. Match will begin on April 4, at 2 AM CET.
Inter Miami
One of the newest MLS franchises, Inter Miami has already built a sizable community around the team due to constant media attention, legal battles to build a stadium and a Leagues Cup last season.
That victory gave Inter a chance to enter the CONCACAF Champions Cup, North American analogue to the Champions League, where the Florida-based squad eliminated Nashville SC in the second round with an overall “5-3” score. Winless since mid-March, now Inter will host a first leg of the quarter-final at Chase Stadium, looking to jumpstart their missing offense.
Monterrey
Monterrey, one of the newer grandees of the Liga MX, could not finish the job in either Apertura or Clausura last season, finishing in top-4 both times, but sits in the top spot this season as well, looking to win their sixth championship.
Adding to that a sixth CONCACAF Champions Cup is a goal for the Striped-Ones, as most recently Monterrey won the tournament in 2021. The Mexican side has already dispatched Comunicaciones from Guatemala and MLS’s very own FC Cincinnati in the second round to set up a showdown against Inter Miami in the Round of 8.
