Malawi and Kenya will clash for the first time since 2018, as the latter will visit Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe. Match will begin on Saturday, March 23, at 4 PM CET.
Malawi
A 122nd ranked side in the FIFA rankings, Malawi did not qualify for the CAF Cup of Nations, as they fell behind Egypt and Guinea in the group, despite finishing above Ethiopia.
The beginning of the World Cup qualifier is going uneven for the team from Southern Africa as well, as they managed to take down Liberia but lost to Tunisia at home, sitting with three points after two games. Now, however, with their first match in 2024 coming up, Malawi seeks to jump start their offense to put up points on the scoreboard and compete for the spots at the biggest events.
Kenya
Kenya, ranked 111th in the world, got disqualified from the Africa Cup of Nations preliminary round, but came back to the national play during the World Cup qualifiers.
Team demolished Seychelles on the road but fell to Gabon, sitting with three points after two games in a group with Ivory Coast as a massive favorite to make it to North America in 2026. Kenya, however, will not go away quietly as a couple of extra wins in the friendly matches will finally push them into the worldwide top-100.
Prediction ⚽️
Malawi and Kenya have not met since 2018, when Kenya scored a late winner in Nairobi, as now they will meet in Lilongwe, which will host the second game in a span of few hours.
The visitors are going to be a slight favorite, but we will go with the hosts to cover the (0) spread, showcasing their ability despite the lack of big names in the lineup.
