A struggling Orlando City will travel to Atlanta to face the local Atlanta United in the 2024 MLS regular season. Match will begin on Monday, March 18, at 12 AM CET.
Atlanta United
Despite not being in MLS for even a decade, Atlanta United has already won both MLS Cup and US Open Cup, securing both titles in the consecutive 2018 and 2019 seasons.
Last year, however, saw the Five Stripes hit rock bottom, as they finished 23rd in the overall standings, missing playoffs altogether. Atlanta lost to the reigning champions from Columbus Crew in the current campaign opener, demolished New England Revolution at home and now prepares to host a team they have not beaten since 2021.
Orlando City
It took a while for the Lions from Orlando City to make MLS playoffs, as they missed the postseason through the first five years in the league.
The Florida-based team won the US Open Cup in 2022 and finished second in the regular season last year before falling in the extra time to the eventual champions from Columbus Crew. This campaign is not going as smooth so far, as Orlando City lost to UANL Tigres in the 2024 CONCACAF Cup, got blasted “0-5” by Inter Miami and earned only a point through three games in MLS.
