Still lurking in the coveted fourth place, Aston Villa will host a feisty Wolves’ squad, eager to rebound after a FA Cup failure. Match will begin on March 30, at 4:30 PM CET.
Aston Villa
While Aston Villa’s season sometimes looks like a rollercoaster, the Birmingham-based club is still in contention for a European trophy and a future spot in the Champions League.
After suffering a major defeat at home to Tottenham Hotspur, Villa could have disintegrated, but instead blew past Ajax in the Conference League, as they will face the French side Lille in the quarter-finals. Still three points up on the Spurs after a draw with West Ham United, Aston Villa need the victory in the upcoming match to keep pace in the UCL race.
Wolverhampton
A hungry Wolverhampton squad vaulted themselves up in the standings in February, as a streak of victories pushed the Wolves into the top-10, but a “0-3” loss to Newcastle United halted the progress for a bit.
The Wolves are still in a good spot to make a run for the European competitions, if England can secure a top-2 spot in the season rankings to send five squads to the Champions League. A road, however, could have been easier if not for the sudden loss to Coventry City in the FA Cup quarter-finals, as the Wolves allowed two goals in injury time before falling at Molineux, “2-3”.
Prediction ⚽️
Teams traded blows in the first round, playing to a “1-1” draw, but this time the home team will be a massive favorite according to sportsbooks.
Aston Villa need all three points considering the upcoming trip to Manchester City and while Wolves are dangerous, they should be able to achieve that. We will side with the hosts and 1.69 odds 🔥.
