Former A-League winners, the Reds from Adelaide are one of the most successful franchises in the premier division, however, this season has not gone well for United.
Sitting in ninth after their victory last week against Newcastle Jets on the road, Adelaide United have no chance of progressing towards the playoffs. It will be the first time since 2020 that the Reds will miss the postseason and with their Australian Cup journey ending in a Round of 16 blowout at hands of Western Sydney Wanderers, it is going to be a long off-season for the players and the fans of the squad.
Western United
Initially known as Melbourne United, Western United, representing the entire state of Victoria, won the A-League title in 2022, but have not developed into a consistent force at the top of the table.
Sitting dead last in the standings, Western United can barely score, as they got blown out in the Australian Cup quarter-finals by the future winners, Sydney FC and did not regain some footing until the last few weeks. Recently, however, the Green and Black posted a four game long undefeated streak, which they will bring with themselves to Adelaide.
